The Los Angeles-based artist Jordan Wolfson (b. 1980, New York, NY) is internationally celebrated as one of the leading artists of his generation. Known for pushing boundaries, his work spans a wide range of media, including sculpture, robotics, virtual reality, holography and digital animation. In his practice, he probes difficult, often controversial topics, exploring fundamental human vulnerabilities and their implications for society.
The artwork Untitled (2025), created especially for the benefit auction, likewise engages with intense emotions. The cartoon figure beneath the words ‘FEELING LOVE’ calls to mind Narcissus, who falls in love with his own reflection. The figure and the disturbing phrases on the surrounding stickers, evoke ambivalent feelings.
Jordan Wolfson’s exhibition project Little Room premiered at the Fondation Beyeler earlier this year. Harnessing the possibilities of VR technology, the immersive and poetic installation raises existential questions about consciousness and identity. Two sculptures by the artist are also housed in the Fondation Beyeler collection.
