Roger Moreau

Roger Moreau lives and works in St Barth, and his bronze hearts of St Barth are staples on the island. His pieces are first carved out of dead corals or rocks from the island, and then created into bronze sculptures resistant to tarnish or erosion. The resulting works are one of a kind pieces that evoke Moreau’s love for the island, its environment, and its people. Creating his pieces from the raw materials of the earth is an important point for the artist, the basic becomes universal and creates a shared common ground between the artist and the world around him. The works are emblematic and timeless in nature, the symbolism of creating and sharing these hearts is, to Moreau, symbolic of sharing happiness.
