Harmony Korine, an artist and filmmaker based in Miami, is renowned for his influential yet controversial work grounded in contemporary American grotesque themes. Coined as "mistakism," his art employs unconventional aesthetics and non sequitur wit, crafting a confrontational perspective on the interplay between everyday beauty and repulsion. Growing up on a commune, Korine's early artistic ventures included paintings and a neon dragon inside Roy Orbison's trunk. He pursued film studies at NYU, gaining recognition for writing the screenplay for Larry Clark's provocative film "Kids." Korine directed notable films like "Gummo" and "Spring Breakers" and exhibited artwork alongside skateboarding and graffiti subcultures. His paintings and mixed-media creations mirror the spontaneous style of his films, fueled by memory, emotion, and sensation.

The "fazor" paintings of 2016 and the "BLOCKBUSTER" series of 2018 highlight his exploration of extensive patterning and explicit film references. Korine's diverse projects, such as the novel "A Crackup at the Race Riots," demonstrate a consistent shift between artistic forms and genres, all stemming from a singular source within him.
